This Grace In Which We Now Stand

I'm currently working through a study of Romans and WOW - what an amazing book! In my last post I shared how encouraging it is to me that joy can stand independent of circumstance and I think the verses below highlight why. We stand in grace, and even our sufferings can serve to enrich our lives spiritually. It's in the midst of our trials that verses like Romans 8:28 become more than just a memory verse. They become life and breath and everything!

Romans 4:25-5:1-5 (NIV)
4:25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
