Let us not become weary

Japanese Iris

As I fall into the repetitive routine of the day to day, I can sometimes grow weary. Shouldn't pursuing what is right and good be easy? In God's strength yes, but in my own strength no. I am very thankful Paul laid his own struggle bare in Romans 7. It's an encouraging reminder that I have no power apart from the Holy Spirit who lives within me. Indeed thanks be to God who graciously delivers us through Jesus and mightily empowers us through the Holy Spirit!

Romans 7:21-25 (NIV)
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Galatians 6:7-10 (NIV)
7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
