For when my pride comes knocking...

Every now and then I tell myself I won't bother reading a particular book in the Bible again because I think I already know what's in it. And of course this turns out to be completely false. Ecclesiastes - all I can say is WOW! The verses below were a much needed reminder.

Ecclesiastes 7:20-22
(ESV)
Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins. Do not take to heart all the things that people say, lest you hear your servant cursing you. Your heart knows that many times you yourself have cursed others.

Beautiful in it's time

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Not Quickly Broken

This week I've been reflecting on the wonderful friendships God has blessed me with and how much each of you encourage me to pursue steadfast endurance.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

My dear friends, I leave you with these words from Paul's letter to the Thessalonians; you bring me so much joy!

1 Thessalonians 3:9
How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?

The Baby...

As a follow up to my previous post, I encourage you to listen to this inspiring message from John Piper.
